Unusual Property Trend: Victorian Churches and Brothels See Increased Sales

Victoria has experienced a notable increase in the sales of both church properties and brothels over the past year, marking the highest volume in nearly a decade. This trend suggests divergent market dynamics for these unique asset classes. While demand and prices for churches appear to be rising, potentially driven by other religious groups seeking premises, the increased sales and a simultaneous decline in median prices for brothels raise questions among industry experts regarding the potential influence of sex work deregulation on their property values. Geelong Property Market Rebounds, Defying Capital City Downturn

Recent property market analysis indicates that Geelong's housing values experienced an increase in July, halting a four-month period of decline. This positive shift positions Geelong's market distinctively against the downward trends observed in many of Australia's major capital cities, including Melbourne. According to the latest PropTrack Home Price Index, the median home value in Geelong saw a modest rise of 0.27 percent, or approximately $2,000, bringing the average price to $765,000 by the close of July. While this monthly gain is notable, the quarterly figures still reflect a broader, longer-term decrease in median house values, which have fallen by 1.11 percent over the past three months. This suggests that while there's a recent recovery, the market's overall trajectory remains complex.
